Petite Noir releases the next track from his forthcoming mini album La Maison Noir / The Black House – the introspective yet forward-thinking ‘Beach’ featuring Danny Brown + Nukubi Nukubi. Produced by CID RIM ‘Beach’ was premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1.
Of the track Petite Noir says: “‘Beach’ is a song about being reborn and how it took for me to fall to rise back up. In life we are constantly reborn. Every stage of our lives, from being a baby to adulthood.”
The track features an audacious guest-spot from Detroit rapper Danny Brown, who Petite Noir previously collaborated with on Brown’s 2016 album Atrocity Exhibition.
Petite Noir announced La Maison Noir with the explosive track ‘Blame Fire’. Recorded partially in the Red Bull Music Studios Cape Town, Blame Fire is a firm favourite on BBC Radio 6 Music where it was on the A-List for five weeks. ‘Blame Fire’ is an impassioned mission statement from the South African raised artist and the first introduction to his latest Noirwave project.
Noirwave is a movement created by Petite Noir and creative director RhaRha, with its roots in music but its vision fixed firmly on the creative future. Responding to current cultural movements centred in Africa – arising against a backdrop of international anxieties concerning borders, nationhood and globalisation – Noirwave offers followers a citizenship which rejoices in freedom of movement, physically and creatively.
Last week, Petite Noir announced a stunning visual accompaniment to La Maison Noir in collaboration with Red Bull Music. Released on 5th October alongside La Maison Noir, the captivating visual mini album journeys through the formative stages of artist Petite Noir’s life, with reference to the four elements of fire, earth, water and air.
